Description & specifications

Guan Gong on one side, a field of coins on the other.

The God of War Rectangular Pendant is a squared plaque with rounded corners, and it is worked on both faces — there is no plain back on this piece.

The front is a deep relief panel. Guan Yu — the Han general held as the god of war, loyalty and righteousness — sits at the centre with a ring of flame behind his head, robed and armoured, his guandao angled across the field. A dragon coils beneath and around him, head turned up, and carved cloud scrolls fill every space to the frame. The relief is cut deep enough that the figure holds real shadow, and the whole panel is left in satin so the detail reads.

A Greek key meander frames the panel on all four sides, and the same pattern is worked around the edge band, so the piece is finished on its sides as well as its faces.

Turn it over and the entire reverse is covered in overlapping Chinese cash coins — round coins with square centres, the traditional symbol of wealth, layered edge over edge across the whole plate. It is the reason to wear it either way round.

Why You’ll Love It:

  • Carved Front and Back – Figural relief one side, full coin-pattern field the other
  • Deep-Relief Guan Gong – Flame halo, guandao and coiling dragon in carved cloud
  • Greek Key Frame – Meander on all four sides and carried around the edge band
  • Coin Reverse – Overlapping cash coins, the classical wealth motif, across the full plate
  • Solid Gold Throughout – No stones and no plating

The God of War Rectangular Pendant is the only piece we make that is fully finished on both faces.

Made to order, turnaround time is typically 2-4 weeks.

Live Transparent Gold Pricing

Our prices are based directly on the current market rate of gold. Each piece is calculated using the live gold price per gram, adjusted for purity, weight, and labor. This ensures you're always paying a fair, transparent price based on real market value.

We believe in complete pricing transparency. Rather than marking up inventory arbitrarily, we tie every piece to the actual cost of materials. When gold prices shift, so do our prices—reflecting what's happening in the market in real time. You'll never wonder if you're overpaying; the math is straightforward and honest.

Every item includes labor and craftsmanship in the final price. We account for the skill and time required to create each piece, but we don't inflate costs beyond what's fair. What you see is what you get—no hidden fees, no surprise charges at checkout.

Limited Lifetime Warranty

We stand behind the craftsmanship of every piece we create. That’s why Matthew The Jeweler is proud to offer a Limited Lifetime Warranty on all our products, giving you peace of mind for years to come.
