The Square Filigree Memorial Diamond Pendant is a picture frame built as jewelry. The whole outer border is carved in deep acanthus scrollwork — leaves folding over one another in full relief, cut and finished by hand, breaking the outline at the corners so the edge is never a straight line. It is the kind of frame you would find around an oil painting, reproduced at 2.25 inches in solid gold.
Inside the carving, a single row of round diamonds runs the full perimeter of the window, separating the scrollwork from the picture and giving the whole thing a clean inner edge. At 1.55tcw across 88 stones, the diamonds outline rather than cover — the carved frame is the piece, and the stones frame the frame.
The window is glazed and square, set flush inside the diamond border.
