The Diamond-Cut Money Cat Rectangular Pendant is a plate built in three layers. A Greek key meander runs the full border in raised relief, the field inside drops into a recess, and the back wall of that recess is cut into a diamond-cut sunburst — fine rays running out from behind the cat to all four sides.
The maneki-neko sits at the centre in a soft satin, and the finish split is what makes the piece work: matte cat, bright ground. Its eyes are closed into contented arcs, whiskers cut across both cheeks, ears small and pricked. One paw is raised beside the head in the beckoning gesture with a small ball above it; the other holds a gold ingot struck with characters. A raised collar circles the neck with a bell hanging at the throat.
The bail is worked too — the same Greek key pattern continues up its face rather than stopping at the frame, so the piece reads as one object rather than a plate with a fitting attached.
