The Ox Circular Pendant is a small round medallion with the animal caught mid-charge — horns lowered, front hoof planted, the hump of the shoulder and the line of the flank modelled in full relief. The muscling is carved rather than suggested, which is what makes a figure this size read as an animal instead of a silhouette.
The ox sits raised and bright against a recessed satin field, so it stands off the ground the way a struck medal does. Around the edge runs a fluted rim of fine radial cuts, catching light all the way round and framing the figure without crowding it.
The ox is the second animal of the Chinese zodiac and the one that stands for what actually gets things done — steady work, endurance, strength held under control. It is also simply a bull, and it is bought both ways.
At just over three quarters of an inch it sits flat and close, light enough to live on a chain and not come off.
