An angel folded into herself, one wing still raised.
The Crying Angel Pendant is carved fully in the round. The figure kneels on a broken stone slab, knees drawn up, head bowed into her folded arms with her hair falling forward across them. Behind her a single great wing sweeps up the full height of the piece, and it is the wing that carries the work: every feather is cut individually, layered short over long from the shoulder to the tip, with the edges caught bright so the wing flashes against the satin of the figure.
The base is worked as cracked stone, fissures running across it, which sets the whole thing as a monument rather than an ornament — this is the graveside Angel of Grief pose, and it is read the same way here.
The body is finished in a fine satin throughout, no polish, so the modelling of the back and shoulders reads as skin rather than metal. Only the bail is left bright.
It is a mourning piece as much as a devotional one, and it is often bought to mark someone.
Why You’ll Love It:
-
Carved in the Round – Fully three-dimensional, finished front and back
-
Hand-Cut Feathering – Every feather worked individually, layered up the wing
-
Cracked Stone Base – Fissured slab beneath the figure, carved not cast smooth
-
All-Satin Finish – Matte across the figure so the modelling reads as skin
-
Solid Gold Throughout – No stones and no plating
The Crying Angel Pendant is the most sculptural small piece we make, and the one people most often buy in memory of someone.
Made to order, turnaround time is typically 2-4 weeks.
