Light cut into the cross, the figure left quiet against it.
The Diamond-Cut Crucifix Pendant is built on a flared cross whose four arms open into scalloped, three-lobed ends. Every surface of the cross is covered in fine parallel diamond cuts, run at angles that change from arm to arm, so the whole body of it flickers as the piece moves.
The arms are also pierced. Petal-shaped openings are cut clean through each terminal and through the centre of the cross, which lifts the weight, breaks up the mass, and lets whatever is behind it show through.
Against all that motion the corpus is deliberately still. Christ is modelled in high relief in contrasting metal and left in a soft satin — crown of thorns, the tilt of the head, the ribs and the fall of the loincloth all carved, with a small burst cut behind the head and rosettes marking each hand. Matte figure, moving ground: that contrast is the entire design.
The bail is plain and polished, kept out of the way.
At three inches it is a full-size statement crucifix — the piercing is what keeps it wearable at that scale.
