The largest pendant we build, and it is not close.
The Large 9 Dragon Circle Pendant is 91mm across — three and a half inches — and carries 249.8g in 24K. Nothing else in the catalogue approaches it on either number. It takes a chain up to 12mm, and it needs one.
It is pierced openwork: the ground between the animals is cut away entirely, so despite the weight the disc reads as lacework with light coming through it rather than as a solid plate. That is the only way a piece this wide is wearable at all.
A Greek key band frames the full circumference — flat, geometric, and the one still element on the whole design.
Inside it the nine dragons spiral outward from the centre in a pinwheel rather than a symmetrical ring, so the composition turns. Bodies overlap and pass behind one another, heads break the plane at different depths, claws catch across the gaps. A larger dragon head faces forward at the centre with a domed pearl beneath it.
Both faces are finished — on an openwork piece the reverse is visible through the gaps, so it cannot be left flat.
Nine is the imperial number. The emperor’s robes carried nine dragons; the nine-dragon screens at the Forbidden City and Beihai Park are the canonical version of this composition. At 91mm this is the closest a pendant gets to that scale.
