The Saint Jude in Arch Frame Pendant is built as an architectural shrine rather than a medal. The saint stands full-length in high relief at the centre — bearded, haloed by a rayed nimbus, his staff in one hand and the medallion image of Christ held against his chest with the other, his robe and mantle falling in carved folds to his feet.
Behind him the entire ground is pierced openwork: a fine ogee lattice, cut clean through in contrasting metal, so light passes behind the figure and the saint reads as standing inside a screened niche rather than against a flat plate.
The frame is the other half of the design. A Greek key meander runs continuously up both jambs, across the arched pediment and along the base, worked in two tones so the pattern stays legible at a distance. The bail continues the same meander in miniature.
At three inches it is a statement piece — the largest devotional pendant we make, and one built to be seen across a room rather than read up close.
