The Three-Headed Buddha Circular Pendant is a heavy disc built in three levels. The outer band carries a Greek key meander polished bright against a satin ground; inside it a mirror-polished wall steps down into a shallow dish; and out of that dish the head rises in high satin relief, filling it edge to edge.
The front face is carved calm — lowered eyes, broad brow, the mouth closed and even — with a face in profile turned out to either side of it, so the piece looks in three directions at once. Above sits a tall tiered crown, each register worked separately, and large ear ornaments drop past the jaw to a beaded collar at the base of the neck.
The three-finish stack is what makes it work at arm’s length: bright meander, bright wall, matte figure. The head is the only matte thing on the piece, so the eye goes to it first every time.
A flat tab bail sits above the rim, keeping the disc hanging square rather than rolling.
The carving is in the Khmer and Thai manner — the tiered crown, the long ear ornaments and the still, symmetrical face all belong to that tradition.
